John Shockey
John Shockey is a photographer from Iowa living in central New Jersey. His photographs are of natural spaces defined by humanity or nature. They are visual diaries of observations, with an understanding of the environmental culture, influenced by its surroundings. Moisture from the sea, mountainous terrains or human development provide the visible definitions of his subject matter. John received a BFA from the University of Iowa and an MFA from Rutgers Mason Gross School of the Arts. He was recipient of a New Jersey State Arts Council Fellowship in Mixed Media and a grant from the Women’s Studio Workshop in Long Island, NY for creating a digital media project.
